DEF LEPPARD Tribute Band Claims It Has Found One-Armed Drummer

January 11, 2011

According to the Dallas Observer, PYROMANIA — the DEF LEPPARD cover band which created a stir last week when it announced that it was looking for a new drummer with only one arm, just like actual LEPPARD drummer Rick Allen — has apparently managed to fill the position.

When the Dallas Observer called the phone number listed on the "seeking bandmember" poster below, the newspaper got the following message:

"If you're calling about the Dallas-based DEF LEPPARD tribute band PYROMANIA... we found our one-armed drummer, and I wanna thank everyone who auditioned, but the position is filled."

***Update***: The Huntington beach, California-based DEF LEPPARD tribute band called PYROMANIA (web site) — whose photo and video was erroneously included in the previous report regarding the Dallas-based act — has released the following statement regarding the Texas group's search for a one-armed drummer:

"Seems there is a DEF LEPPARD tribute band in Dallas who call themselves PYROMANIA and are looking for a one armed drummer.

"We wanted to set the record straight that we have nothing to do with this ad and we are not looking for a drummer and feel is in VERY BAD TASTE!! We have much respect for Rick Allen and DEF LEPPARD and We have a great love and honor for their music. Please do not confuse us with this complete disgusting and disrespectful behavior."

At the height of worldwide fame in 1984, Rick Allen had a car accident that changed his life. Rick lost an arm, but turned personal tragedy into spiritual transformation and continued his musical career.
